All suppliers will emit a certain amount of CO2 during production and delivery of their products to the onward customer. By having the overview of the supply chain structure, it will be possible to define and visualise all sources of CO2 from the supply chain. This will drive the discussion about sourcing decisions based on the CO2. It will be advantageous to set the target/limit for the allowable CO2 footprint coming from the supply chain.
- Objectives/Key learning points
- Understand CO2 drivers from the supply chain
- Set allowable CO2 target for each individual supplier
- Define decarbonising strategy for the supply chain
- Define sourcing guidelines based on the CO2 footprint
- Teaching Methodology
- Quick overview of the key CO2 sources in the supply chain
- Implementation Methodology
- Develop full supply chain CO2 footprint using one of the recognised standards, for example GHG protocol.
