Developing a “manufacturable” product is critical to realising the product with low costs and high quality, acceptable by the final customer. DFM/A requirements must be defined and addressed cross-functionally (by the same functional representatives who are responsible for new product development, maintenance, cost reduction, quality improvement etc.) early in the development cycle during the concept development phase. Thereafter the effort to adopt the best DFM/A practices for the given product must continue in the later development phases and be fully deployed (both at the suppliers’ and at own factories) by the time that the product is to be launched.

DFM/A is one of the key cross-functional efforts in pursuing a manufacturable, cost-optimised and quality-wise customer-approved design.

Duration

The training lasts three days in its fully blown format that allows sufficient time for the course content to be absorbed and processed by the course participants. However, it is possible to scale down the training to 2 days, subject to agreement per initial consultation. The real application of DFM/A becomes part of the 3P workshop where participants can implement what they learnt during the training.
